Dr. Karnes is professor of mathematics and director of the Academic Year Institute in Mathematics at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He received degrees of A.B. and A.M. at Vanderbilt University and Ph. D. at Peabody College. He has done additional work at the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin.
