Before I begin to talk about drill, we should look at the purpose of junior high school mathematics. For too long it has been remedial mathematics, getting ready for the next step. It should be an extension of mathematics already learned and a preliminary exploration in the broad area of mathematics. Students of this age are rebellious and do not like mathematics presented as a finished product.
