One of the greatest challenges facing teachers of mathematics in elementary and middle schools lies in providing for the needs of learners with differing abilities and interests. That individual differences among students exist a t all grade levels and that the range of these differences increases from grade level to grade level is common knowledge among teachers and has been well documented by research.
