The Common Curriculum Framework for K-12 Mathematics: Western Canadian Protocol for Collaboration in Basic Education (Alberta Education 1995), also known as the Protocol, specifies seven different mathematical processes: communication, connections, estimation and mental mathematics, problem solving, reasoning, technology and visualization.
