Each term when I come to a classroom to teach basic level mathematics (for example, calculus, precalculus and so on), I can see fear and horror in my students’ eyes. Their bodies are motionless. They are expecting mental torture, as one of my students said. They are in this room only because they have to be here. They have to take this class to get their degree.
