Using Telescoping Terms to Derive Formulae for Sums of Powers of the First n Natural Numbers

The excellent article by A. Craig Loewen titled “Sums of Arithmetic Sequences: Several Problems and a Manipulative” in the June 2004 issue (Volume 41, Number 2) of delta-K reminded me of Riemann sums and the formulae that are so important in those problems.
